Avoid Getting Stopped by Law Enforcement.

Here are some things you can do to avoid being stopped by law enforcement;

  • Obey all traffic laws (stop signs, traffic lights, speed limits etc.)

  • Use your turn signals when changing lanes or exiting a road or parking lot.

  • Check all your lights and turn signals often. Replace if needed.

  • Stay in your lane.

  • Be courteous to other drivers.

What do you do if you get pulled over?

Got pulled over by law enforcement? Don’t panic. Law enforcement’s main goal is to protect all of us. If you were speeding or ran a stop sign, admit it and treat the officer with respect. He’s just doing his or her job to protect us on the road.

Officers do not know who you are, and must be very cautious for their own safety. Here are some steps you can take to make your traffic stop more safe for everyone involved.

  • Open all your windows (if weather permits) so the officer can see everyone and everything inside your vehicle. This will show the officer you have nothing to hide.

  • Don’t make any sudden moves.

  • Don’t reach for anything until they ask for your license and paperwork.

  • Always have your license, proof of insurance and registration (depending on what state you live) readily available.

  • If you know why you were stopped, don’t ask.

RESPECT goes a LONG WAY
